How does a child growing up with a white father and a black mother, both immigrants, come to define her own identity? How do the prejudices and misconceptions of the people around her influence her choices? This is the story of a strong loving multicultural family, and their teenage daughter’s journey into self-discovery.

The book won the Anderson Commendation, was commended by the Ministry of Education, & voted second place by children in the National Book Survey conducted through the schools in 2002. The book is widely used in Israeli schools to discuss issues of cultural tolerance, multiple identities and accepting differences between people. In 2015 the book became a play which is currently touring schools in Israel (A co-production of The Goshen and the Kibbutz Theatres). This is the American version.
